Mission engineering is gaining popularity in addressing complex operational problems faced by defence forces and industries world-wide. Our Mission Engineering Foundation courses provide the most time-effective delivery of core concepts of mission engineering.

Mission Engineering Primer Short CourseÌý

ThisÌý2 day short course will introduce you to the principles and practices that drive success in complex mission-driven activities. Through active engagement with facilitators and peers, you engage in meaningful discussion and reflect on the learning content. An additional one-day case study workshop is also available for group bookings of 6 or more.Ìý

Fundamentals of Mission Engineering Microcredential

You can choose to continue your learning beyond the short course by adding the Fundamentals of Mission Engineering microcredential to your study plans. This 8 week program delves further into the concepts of missions engineering and gives you the opportunity to consolidate your understanding and receive an accredited two units of postgraduate credit for your studies. The microcredential is taught through weekly one-hour tutorials, delivered by expert academics and industry specialists in the field. The two assignments within the course allows you to reflect on your learnings and implement your new knowledge and skills.

The Fundamentals of Mission Engineering microcredential is available to be studied for up to 12 months after completion of the Mission Engineering Primer short course. For more information contact the Short Courses team.

TravisÌý Hunt is a Defence Industry Specialist within the ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Capability Systems Centre.Ìý He holds an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of System Engineering from ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·.Ìý He is a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia and was awarded Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) status by the Australian Institute of Project Management.Ìý Travis’ professional career has spanned engineering and project management roles across Defence and into defence industry. Projects have included organisation transformation, capability delivery and development of advanced systems.

As an Industry Specialist, his research and education interests include system engineering, mission engineering and project delivery. Travis is particularly passionate about how contemporary and emerging system engineering and modelling practices can enhance communication and collaboration within multi-disciplined project teams.Ìý Ìý

Kumudu Amarawardhana

Kumudu Amarawardhana is a lecturer at the Capability Systems Centre at ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Canberra, specialising in microgrid systems and integrating renewable energy resources. She obtained her doctorate degree from the University of Tasmania and has served as a university lecturer for about five years, making significant contributions to STEMM education in regional areas of Australia. She also holds an MSc in sustainable energy engineering, a certificate in sustainability and economics from Sweden, and a BSc in mechanical engineering (Honours) from Sri Lanka.

With over a decade of experience as an engineer in the Sri Lanka Air Force, she brings invaluable industrial exposure in mechanical, aeronautical, and explosive engineering. Her current focus is on leading a project to professionalise mission engineering in defence and various other industries.

If a course is cancelled, you will have the opportunity to transfer your registration or be issued a full refund.
